McG to helm Disney's 'Nemo' (VAR)
By Nancy Tartaglione-Vialatte
McG will direct Disneys 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea: Captain Nemo and, according to Variety sources, will be paid $8 million against 7% of the gross for the gig. The family film is being fast-tracked by the studio with hopes to make it this year. Sean Bailey is producing with McG's Wonderland Sound and Vision.
Bill Marsilli wrote the script for Nemo which outlines the captains origins as he creates his warship, the Nautilus.
The 1954 original "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea" was the first live-action film made by Walt Disney and became the second-highest grossing film that year and won three Oscars.
The director is coming off "Terminator: Salvation" and had multiple studios vying for his next slot.
