Knightley cloned for 'Never Let Me Go' (VAR)

By Nancy Tartaglione-Vialatte

In a move away from period pieces, Keira Knightley will star in sci-fi thriller "Never Let Me Go" for Fox Searchlight. Mark Romanek will direct the cloning-themed film, says Variety. Andrew Garfield and Carey Mulligan also star.

Andrew Macdonald and Allon Reich are producing through their DNA Films. Alex Garland, who wrote the screenplay, is producing as well. Film 4 is also involved as a producer.

The story follows a trio who grew up in a boarding school, isolated from the outside world until they discover they are clones grown for the sole purpose of organ donation.

Film is set to shoot in April in London and Norfolk, England.

Knightley is also attached to star in John Curran's "The Beautiful and the Damned," William Monahan's directorial debut "London Boulevard" and the Columbia Pictures remake of "My Fair Lady."
