ABRAMS MAY DIRECT OPENING EPISODE OF HIS 'UNDERCOVERS' (THR)

By Nancy Tartaglione

In addition to executive producing "Undercovers," his Warner Bros. pilot at NBC, J.J. Abrams may direct the opening episode. The hyphenate is in talks to helm the pilot making it the first he has directed since 2004's "Lost" opener, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

ABC's two-part "Lost" opening is often considered one of the best-directed pilots of all time. It helped launch Abrams' career into directing such theatrical films as "Mission: Impossible 3" and "Star Trek."

The new show has been described as a mix between "Mr. & Mrs. Smith" and "The Bourne Identity."

Abrams has previously directed an episode of NBC's "The Office" and ‘guest directed’ an episode of "Jimmy Kimmel Live" in 2006.
