REDSTONE, CRUISE BREAK BREAD IN BEVERLY HILLS (WSJ)

Sumner Redstone and Tom Cruise may be patching things up. The Wall Street Journal today reports that the erstwhile colleagues (Cruise had a long-running partnership with Viacom's Paramount Pictures which Redstone famously severed in 2006) were spotted having lunch at the Beverly Hills Hotel on Thrusday. Redstone told the Journal they "agreed the past is the past and we would put it behind us and renew our relationship."
Redstone declined to elaborate on whether they discussed business. However, Cruise is widely thought to want to renew the "Mission: Impossible" series of movies, which Paramount has the rights to, notes WSJ.
Redstone told the paper, Cruise "was happy I agreed to have lunch with him" and brought out pictures of his wife and daughter. Cruise thanked Redstone for a note he sent wishing him luck on his new venture just over a year ago and they agreed to get together for dinner at a later date, Redstone said.
Paramount owns the rights to several top movies in which Cruise starred, and is already planning to make a sequel to one of them, "War of the Worlds," directed by Steven Spielberg.
