A pair of Treksters from the original TV series have died.
Joseph Pevney, 96, who directed several fan favorites including The Trouble With Tribbles and The City on the Edge of Forever, died May 18 in at his home in Palm Desert, the AP reported Friday.
Alexander Courage, 88, who wrote the show's iconic theme song, died May 15 in Pacific Palisades, AP said.
"He was surprised at the longevity of it because it was not a popular series at the time," Pevneys son Jay said. "It hit its real popularity (in syndication) after it was over."
Courage, who admitted he didnt really like sci-fi, said the theme was inspired was inspired by an arrangement of the song "Beyond the Blue Horizon" he heard as a youngster, AP said.
"Little did I know when I wrote that first A-flat for the flute that it was going to go down in history, somehow," Courage said in an interview for the TV academy in 2000. "It's a very strange feeling.
