Carell's new little friend (THR)

Call it Steve and the real beaver. In Hollywood development circles these days, one of the hottest scripts, The Beaver, boasts a beaver puppet at its center and now has Steve Carell attached to star. Anonymous Content recently picked up the script from first-time writer Kyle Killen.
The central premise is set on a man who walks around with a beaver puppet on his hand, treating it as something close to a human creature with human feelings.
The script is said to be whimsical and winning, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The fable has a lot of studios interested but Anonymous is seeking a director before making a deal. THR says that there was once word that Jay Roach might come on board.
Killen is another in this years spec-writer rags-to-riches stories. He is a 30ish USC grad whose writing career until now has consisted of contributing to small literary magazines, says THR. He follows a tradition that this year alone includes such previous unknowns as Michael Martin and Brad Ingelsby.
Carells other upcoming projects include "Get Smart 2" and the Napoleonic comedy "Brigadier Gerard."
