Fifth 'Terminator' in the works (VAR)

A fifth Terminator film is in the works, reports Variety. McG, who directed the upcoming fourth installment, Terminator Salvation, is working with Halcyons Derek Anderson and Victor Kubicek to develop the latest project.
The announcement was made at the Dubai International Film Festival where McG was on hand despite, as Variety notes, his well-known fear of flying. Although the Middle East was mentioned as a locale, no decision has been made as to where to film the next "Terminator."
When Anderson and Kubicek acquired the rights to the "Terminator" franchise last year, the reboot was seen as a trilogy. Christian Bale signed on in the role of John Connor for all three films with the latest tentatively scheduled for a 2011 release.
Although Anderson and Kubicek had planned to await the release of Salvation before going forward with another pic, the positive studio, fan and media reaction to Salvation footage has encouraged them to move forward ahead of schedule.
"We feel the time is now to start shaping the next part of this," Kubicek said.
Warner Bros. is handling the domestic release of "Terminator Salvation" with Sony handling the majority of the rest of the world.
