Abrams, Paramount extend pact (SCR, VAR)

Paramount Pictures and JJ Abrams' Bad Robot Productions will extend their first-look deal through 2013, the studio announced on Thursday. Collaborations between the two thus far include "Cloverfield," the Abrams-directed "Star Trek" which will be released in May and "Morning Glory" starring Rachel McAdams and Harrison Ford and produced by Abrams.
"Morning Glory" is set to go into production in June with Roger Michell directing for a 2010 release.
Paramount chairman and CEO Brad Grey said the deal with Bad Robot, initially signed in 2006, was particularly meaningful because it was "one of the first deals we made to help rebuild the studio. JJ has since become part of the fabric of Paramount and we look forward to continuing our fruitful creative collaboration for many years to come."
Abrams said: "Bad Robot has had an incredibly fun and productive collaboration with Paramount. We feel like we're just getting started."
