By R. Kinsey Lowe
Advance ticket sales for Disney/Pixar's "Up" are moving rapidly in that direction, according to updated information from online ticket vendors MovieTickets.com and Fandango.com.
Pre-opening sales for the latest Pixar production about a grumpy old man and a neighborhood kid who embark on an unconventional balloon ride accounted for 62% of Fandango's business and 34% of MovieTickets', the vendors reported Thursday.
"Up" sales were running slightly higher than those for "Monsters vs. Aliens" at a comparable period before opening. Both movies are in 3-D. "Monsters" is from Disney/Pixar rival DreamWorks Animation.
Demand for "Night at the Museum: Battle for the Smithsonian" remains strong with 26% on MovieTickets and 13% on Fandango, followed by "Drag Me to Hell" with each vendor reporting 10% of sales for "Spider-man" trilogy director Sam Raimi's return to the horror genre.
