Mark Wahlberg may star in a remake of the Icelandic thriller "Reykjavik-Rotterdam," today's trades report. Aaron Guzikowski is writing the script while Wahlberg is attached to produce with Leverage's Stephen Levinson and Working Title partners Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner.
The Oskar Jonasson-directed original is Iceland's foreign-language film submission for the upcoming Oscars, after having swept the Icelandic film awards.
Baltasar Kormakur, the Icelandic auteur who produced and starred in the original, is attached to helm the English-language redo.
The story follows an ex-freight ship worker, fired for smuggling alcohol between Reykjavik and Rotterdam. He struggles as a security guard until his best friend persuades him to sign on for one last crooked job.
