By Nancy Tartaglione

Yesterday, The Playlist reported that Dennis Quaid has dropped out of Steven Soderbergh's "Knockout" with Bill Paxton stepping in. Variety today confirms the report, adding that Antonio Banderas has also joined the project. It had earlier been reported by Playlist that Banderas was in talks.

The film also stars mixed-martial arts champ Gina Carano, Ewan McGregor, Michael Douglas, Channing Tatum and Michael Fassbender. French actor/director Mathieu Kassovitz has also reportedly joined the film in an undisclosed role.

Relativity Media is fully financing with Lionsgate distributing domestically and representing the film internationally. Gregory Jacobs and Ryan Kavanaugh are producing with Tucker Tooley exex producing.

"Knockout" sees Carano portraying a top-level private security operative who's convinced she's been betrayed by her boss and the government and goes on the run to prove her suspicions are true.

Paxton will portray her father and Banderas will play a foreign operative drawn into the mission of revenge.

Shooting begins Monday in Dublin.
