Costner to direct 'A Little War' (VAR)

Kevin Costner will direct and star in "A Little War of Our Own," an action-adventure film in which he will play a sheriff during World War II. Beacon Pictures is fully financing the project, Variety reports.
Armyan Bernstein will produce in his fourth teaming with Costner and their first since 2003's "Open Range" for Disney. Production is slated for fall.
"A Little War of Our Own," written by Dan Gordon, centers on a sheriff who must try to keep a town from exploding into violence.
Suzann Ellis, Jasa Abreo and Peter Almond will exec produce.
