Greengrass on a 'Fantastic Voyage' (VAR, HV)
By Nancy Tartaglione
Paul Greengrass has entered early talks to direct the 3D remake of adventure-fantasy "Fantastic Voyage" for 20th Century Fox and James Cameron's Lightstorm Entertainment. According to reports, the film will use the same technologies Lightstorm developed for "Avatar." Shane Salerno is adapting.
The film would be a departure for Greengrass who is known for his signature use of hand-held cameras in mostly gritty fare.
The storyline centers on a dying scientist whose only chance for survival rests with five colleagues who are miniaturized and injected into his bloodstream.
The project has seen many directors circle in recent years, including Roland Emmerich and Tarsem Singh.
The original starred Raquel Welch and Donald Pleasence.
