Cruz to reunite with Castellito for 'Venuto Al Mondo' (SCR)
By Wiretap Staff
Penelope Cruz will reunite with Italian actor/director Sergio Castellito in war drama "Venuto Al Mondo," Screen reports. Cruz and Castellito first worked together in 2004s "Don't Move."
Based on the bestselling book by Margaret Mazzantini, the project is currently at script stage and eyeing a 2011 shooting start.
Castellito is adapting the book with Mazzantini.
According to Screen, the story is set in Sarajevo before, during, and after the Balkans conflict in the 1990s and uses flashbacks to create a temporal landscape for the Cruz character, a mother who returns home with her adolescent son in search of their common roots.
Castellito is said to be approaching Javier Bardem or Benicio Del Toro to portray a Bosnian poet.
