'Law & Order' canceled; 'LOLA,' 'SVU' picked up (VAR, VUL, WRAP, DH)
By Hollywood Wiretap staff
It was as suspenseful as a series can be -- except it was the real deal: After a day and night of drama, NBC officially canceled the long-running "L&O;" (see bottom link) but took on its progeny "Law and Order: Los Angeles," and "Law and Order: SVU." Our earlier report:
At the risk of everything changing right after we post this, let it never be said we don't enjoy series with good cliffhangers -- and living its own cliffhanger is 'Law & Order,' which as the ultimate procedural always wraps up its stories in neat, concise packages by the end of each hour. But as of Friday morning, the jury was still out as to whether NBC and Dick Wolf had come to some settlement about the future of the long-running show. Late last night it was canceled -- and then not -- and, well: Stay tuned. Or: To be continued. Or: not.
