German film fund CP Medien winding down; had raised over $500M to invest in int'l pics (SCR)

German film investor CP Medien is being wound down. The company raised 450 million euros from private investors for about 40 films between 1995 and 2002, Screen notes.
The fund's placements had backed such films as "Austin Powers: International Man Of Mystery," "Enemy At The Gates" and "Asterix and Obelix: Mission Cleopatra."
According to a report in the daily Stuttgarter Zeitung, CP Medien's CEO Ralf Hartmann plans to continue working in the film industry through the CP Medien production/distribution subsidiary Capella Films.
