Us Magazine is reporting that Angelina Jolie won't star when she makes her directing and screenwriting debut with an upcoming untitled feature film set against the 1992-1995 Bosnian war. British film company GK Films confirmed the news to the mag.
Over the weekend, Reuters reported Jolie as saying, "The film is a love story, not a political statement." The quote was issued on Saturday by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), for whom Jolie is a goodwill ambassador. Jolie made a surprise visit to Sarajevo over the weekend.
She said shooting would begin in autumn. GK Films noted cast will be composed solely of "various ethnicities of the former Yugoslavia."
