UPDATED: Cooper's talk show confirmed (TLF)

By Nancy Tartaglione

UPDATED: A deal for an as-yet untitled Anderson Cooper daytime talker has been confirmed, The Live Feed blog reports.

Said Cooper in a statement on Thursday: "Over the course of the past few years, I've had the opportunity to work on a number of daytime programs. It's fun and interesting to work in daytime television. The format is unique and you can really go in-depth on a wide range of fascinating and compelling stories. With this new program I hope to relay important information and relate to people and the audience in a completely different way. It's an exciting opportunity to show another side of myself and create something worthwhile and special in daytime." (TLF has more here.)

Anderson Cooper is negotiating for daytime talk show, The Live Feed blog reports. The CNN anchor is said to be deep in talks with Telepictures Productions and Warner Bros. Domestic Television Distribution for a show to be pitched to stations in the next couple of weeks with a launch date targeted to fall 2011.

The project, says TLF, will not have a hard-news focus and is billed as a topical format that will cover everything from celebrities, pop culture and social issues to wide-ranging news stories. Cooper would also serve as an executive producer.

Cooper has an exclusive contract with CNN, making the talk show deal complex, says TLF, because it is being coordinated between Warner Bros., Cooper and CNN. The deal may close by the end of the week and calls for Cooper to continue hosting his CNN program "Anderson Cooper 360."
