'ROCK OF AGES' TO RETEAM 'AUSTINPUSSY' PAIR? PALTROW OFFERED ROLE, CRUISE IN TALKS (EW)

Back in October, Deadline reported that Tom Cruise had been offered a supporting role in New Line's "Rock of Ages," the movie version of the hit Broadway musical. EW now reports that "Ages" producer Jenno Topping has confirmed that Cruise is "in discussions" for the pic. Further, in a move that would reunite the "Austin Powers" cameo couple, EW says Gwyneth Paltrow has also been offered a role.
Of Cruise's offer, Topping told EW, "It's real. Although, it is not cemented."
Adam Shankman will direct the LA-set film which follows a young couple whose story is told through '80s rock hits.
At a premiere this week, Paltrow told EW, "It sounds cool. I just got the script and I will read it on the plane home tomorrow. But it sounds like it could be fun."
Deadline previously reported that Cruise had been asked to play a bartender.
