Gilroy lining up who's who of potential 'Bourne Legacy' leads (VAR, DH)
By Nancy Tartaglione
Variety reports that Tony Gilroy has been in Hollywood this week to meet with actors vying to play the new lead character in "The Bourne Legacy." The list includes Jake Gyllenhaal, Tobey Maguire, Garrett Hedlund, Taylor Kitsch and Kellan Lutz, sources told the trade. Deadline also added several names to the mix for the part of an assassin with a similar background to Jason Bourne.
Along with the young men cited by Variety (and save for Lutz) Deadline added that actors who have met with Gilroy or are otherwise in the mix include Joel Edgerton, Josh Hartnett, Paul Dano, Michael Pitt, Oscar Isaac, Michael Fassbender, Luke Evans, Alex Pettyfer and Benjamin Walker.
VAR:
Insiders stress that no front-runner has emerged. Lesser-known actors could become a factor because Gilroy wants to screen-test all candidates -- which may be a stumbling block for some established thesps.
The film is to start production this fall with an August 2012 release targeted by Universal.
