Betty Thomas to direct 'Desperados'? (LAT, THR)

By Nancy Tartaglione

The Los Angeles Times reported late Thursday that Betty Thomas is set to be offered the director's chair on "Desperados," a Universal project billed as the female "Hangover." The pic has Isla Fischer attached while the studio is said to be looking for the two other ladies that complete the starring triumverate.

The script by Ellen Rapoport, which landed on the Black List two years ago, sends the three women to Mexico to correct a situation that had one of the women leaving a scathing message for a man she actually likes, The LAT explains.

Thomas would replace Wayne McClammy, the director behind the Sarah Silverman and Jimmy Kimmel viral videos "I'm F---ing Matt Damon" and "I'm F---ing Ben Affleck." The Hollywood Reporter says McClammy left the project over creative differences.

Mark Gordon, Jason Blum and Jennifer Todd are producing, THR notes.

Thomas has previously directed such comedies as "Private Parts," "Dr. Dolittle," and "Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel."
