Sony Pictures Classics said nearing deal for Polanski's 'God of Carnage' (DH, SCR)

According to Deadline, Sony Pictures Classics is closing in on a domestic deal for Roman Polanski's "God of Carnage."

The comedy drama, shot in Paris, is an adaptation of Yasmina Reza's stage play and stars Kate Winslet, Christoph Waltz, Jodie Foster and John C Reilly.

Per Deadline, the film tells the story of two sets of parents who meet after their kids brawl in the schoolyard, and get along worse than the kids.

Polanski and Reza co-wrote the screenplay.

ICM's Jeff Berg is repping North American rights while SBS is handling international sales and has already secured several deals including in the UK, France and Scandinavia with Wild Bunch. Constantin holds German rights, Screen notes.
