Beatty to star in, direct, write, produce pic for Paramount (THR, DH)

Warren Beatty will return to directing with a project at Paramount that he will also star in, write and produce, it was announced Monday. Beatty's last directorial effort was 1998's "Bulworth." The upcoming untitled comedy is based on his original screenplay.
Beatty previously directed 1978's "Heaven Can Wait" and 1981's "Reds" at Par.
"Warren's script is quintessential Beatty, elegantly written and wonderfully entertaining," said Paramount's Brad Grey, who announced the project Monday. "It is our privilege to have one of the great artists in the history of the film industry come home to Paramount."
Production is scheduled for later this year with casting currently underway.
