Beatty to play Hughes (DH, 411, VUL)
By Nancy Tartaglione
Details have emerged on the untitled Warren Beatty project that was announced on Monday. Deadline says it's heard Beatty will play Howard Hughes in the film, although it wont be a biopic. (Showbiz 411 on Tuesday suggested the film would be a Hughes project, "in the works for at least 25 years"). According to Deadline, Beatty is meeting with a roster of top talent to fill out the cast.
Per Deadline, part of the plot involves an affair Hughes had with a young woman in the later years of his life.
Talent he's meeting with include Andrew Garfield, Alec Baldwin, Shia La Beouf, Jack Nicholson, Evan Rachel Wood, Rooney Mara and Beatty's wife, Annette Bening,.
Meanwhile, Vulture notes that news of Beatty's Hughes project may sound a sour note for Christopher Nolan who has been looking to direct a long-shelved film about the recluse once he's finished with "The Dark Knight Rises."
