Black List launching web site to track most popular scripts in real time (DH, WSJ, NYT)
By Nancy Tartaglione-Moore
Franklin Leonard's Black List is expanding. Deadline reported Wednesday that Leonard is launching Blcklst.com, a website that will track Hollywood's most popular unproduced scripts in real time.
To track the scripts, the site will expand the pool of movie professionals it polls by including agents and directors who will identify scripts they like best.
The subscriber-only site will cost $20 a month, but it will not be open to the general public. A screening process will determine who qualifies to become a member, said The New York Times.
Leonard told The Wall Street Journal the restriction is to ensure the site's information "doesn't get muddled" and to build a community whose livelihood depends on finding and reading good screenplays.
