TV sales round-up (DH, VAR, TLF)

A slew of new TV projects have advanced in the past day. Below is a round-up of reports.

Deadline reports that FX has picked up "Raising Blind" to be developed into a potential series based in the world of underground gambling.

The pilot will be written by Ben Younger and Jay Longino, based on a story by Josh Marchette, Longino and Younger. John Dahl, of "Rounders" fame, will direct the pilot. Marking his first TV producing credit, Vin Diesel and his One Race Films are behind "Raising Blind." Diesel and Younger previously worked together on "Boiler Room."

Also according to Deadline, the CW has bought "Trending," a drama series project executive produced by Katherine Heigl which is inspired by Cynthia Langston's novel "Bi-Coastal Babe."

Project follows a 26-year-old woman tasked with finding the newest and hottest emerging trends in order to keep her corporate clients ahead of the curve, but who finds it difficult to predict the trends in her love life as well.

Gren Wells will write the script and will executive produce with Katherine and Nancy Heigl, Lakeshore's Tom Rosenberg and Gary Lucchesi and Daniel Rosenberg. CBS TV Studios is producing. See Deadline for more.

Fox, meanwhile, has bought "Step-Dan", a multi-camera comedy from Warner Bros TV written by Dan Lagana. Deadline says the comedy is inspired by Lagana's real-life experience being a young step-father.

Per Variety, Fox has ordered two comedy scripts from FishBowl Worldwide Media: "Learn Just Enough to Get Laid" and "Beyond Repair."

The first is a FishBowl/Sony collaboration based on the book by Tyler DeAngelo and Brad Emmett about love and sex for the modern man. Jim and Steve Armogida are writers and executive producers.

FishBowl and Fox TV are behind the latter about a family-run business with a very dysfunctional relationship at the center. Project is is written and co-executive produced by Sameer Asad Gardezi.

NBC, according to The Live Feed, has given a script order to "Serial Killer Whisperer," an hourlong drama project loosely based on the life of traumatic brain injury survivor Tony Ciaglia.

The character-driven procedural hails from "SVU" consulting producer Judith K McCreary.

Finally, Deadline reports that feature writers Chris Shafer and Paul Vicknair have sold observational romantic comedy "Girlfriend Season" to CBS. Project follows a young married couple and their friends.

And, Fox has bought drama pitch "Thick as Thieves" from Aaron Stockard who co-wrote Ben Affleck's "Gone Baby Gone" and "The Town."
