Ashton Kutcher Attached to Play Steve Jobs in Indie Biopic(VAR, THR)

By Nancy Tartaglione-Moore

Ashton Kutcher is attached to play the late Steve Jobs in a biopic about the Apple icon. "Jobs," which Joshua Michael Stern will direct from a script by Matt Whiteley, will chronicle Steve Jobs from wayward hippie to co-founder of the technology giant, Variety reports. (The indie pic shouldn't be confused with Sony's Jobs project based on the book by Walter Isaacson.)

Five Star Institute's Mark Hulme is financing and will produce, according to Variety. Production is set for May while Kutcher is on hiatus from "Two and a Half Men."

CAA is handling domestic distribution rights.

The Hollywood Reporter adds that Jobs looks to get off the ground before Sony pulls together its biopic.

Stern previously directed Disney's 2008 election comedy "Swing Vote." He is also attached to direct Stone Village's "Carnaval," an R-rated comedy starring John Cusack and Johnny Knoxville.
